Dear Dean:

We wanted to drop you a line and let you know, how touched we were by your Salute to Our Heroes.

All too often, we really forget what these brave men and women put on the line for us each day, their lives.

It is indeed uplifting, to see individuals such as your self and The New Coin Realm pay special honor and

tribute to these brave heroes and to remind each of us of their sacrifice.

God Bless & Protect you, our heroes!

The New Coin Realm Webmaster:

Wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed this site, especially the pictures gallery

and your tribute pages to fire fighters.  I found your memorial to Randy West to be

very touching.

I wish you all the best and both myself and boy friend have downloaded your membership

form and will submit it with our payment.  It is really important to support websites like this.

I am sure many of your visitors would agree!

Hello Mr. Silver:

We just want to let you know how much we like the new site format.  The pictures in the gallery are out standing and very clear and precise.  We like the fact that the pictures open in a new screen and they load very quickly.

The tribute to fire fighters is very touching and is appreciated by our dad who is a fire fighter and my us.  Some times people do not understand just how difficult it is.  Thank you for showing people!

As members of The New Coin Realm, we are very proud of the new site and the work that you do to make it all possible.  Thank you!!!!

Hi:

Just wanted to send you my feedback on this Connect The Dots pdf on the site.  By the looks of it, you have spent a great deal of time in preparing and researching for this article.  You have raised some very interesting possibilities and makes me as I am sure others, really question these so called "Pitman dots".  What I have always found strange is the fact Pitman was an American who seemingly had a hand or contacts inside the Royal Mint at the time.  And have you ever noticed how any picture one sees of these "Pitman dot coins", they are always touched up to some degree.  No clean or untouched photos to stand on their own.

You should consider having your study and article published and made available for sale through coin dealers and off the site.

Good luck Dean on your efforts and thanks for saying what needed to be said!

Hello:

On behalf of my sons, Brad and Corey, and myself, I would like to thank you for The New Coin Realm and Coins-be-us.com website.  It is a treasure of information, presented in a concise and simple way.  They really appreciate that.  Your pictures are very clear and informative.  But what was really very surprising, was the rest of your site; the Laughter Page and The Tribute's to the fire fighters and our Military men and women.  It is little wonder that the Fellowship of The New Coin Realm is growing.  Keep up the good (though I am sure it may seem thankless) and thank you for being there for kids like mine!

Hello:

Found your site this afternoon.  Quite a site you have there.  Found the opinions on Dot That Always Was very refreshing and a change to what is put forward.  Same as your Editorial on The Flipside.

Outstanding scans of coins on the Picture and Feature pages.

Interesting to find such Tributes and powerful images contained in those pages.  You are to be commended for creating a very unusual but interesting site.

Keep up the good work

I just read your article on the 1882 obverse 1 versus obverse 2 and, as a major collector of Canadian varieties, think that you have mislead some people.  In the 1882, you have the single serif'd N's on BOTH the obverse #1 and #2.  I think that the rarest of the Canadian varieties in the 1882 obverse#2 with the single serif'd N .. even much more scarce than the 1859 DP#1 or the 1891 vdate varieties.

The best way to tell an obverse #1 from a #2 has nothing to do with the chins or N's.  Look at where the neck extension points to the C .. if the neck extension points to the bead directly above the C, it is an obverse #1. If it points to the bead to the left of that, it is a #2.

Also, an obverse #1, on the top front of the crown .. if it just misses or just barely touches the bead, it is a #1.  If it disturbs the bead (anywhere approaching one-quarter of it) it is a #2.  You can tell at a glance the difference by looking at the crown.  If it a full bead at the tip of the crown, it is a #1.  This holds up through the 1886's.  Just look at an 1876 and an 1888 and compare the 2 side by side in the points that I have made .... and the single-serif'd N's are on BOTH of them.

 Thanks         Bill

It is amazing to me how the author(s) have been able to capture much of the very essence of what we all feel daily but do not stop long enouph to really think about. You see, if we did we might be unable to do our jobs. When the whistle blows, we have a job to do. That is all that matters. Someone needs our help and might not survive if we are not there help them. The moment that whistle blows you forget about everything else (including your own human mortality). If you are not able to do this you cannot effectively go into that burning building and do your job. When the whistle blows all that matters is that someone some-where needs your help. You no longer have any enemies. You only have friends. Sometimes individuals within the public like to give us a hard time because they themselves are having a bad day. When that whistle goes off and the truck begins to move under your feet, that no longer matters. It only matters that they have called and asked for your help. You see Fire Fighters are much like the Grinch who stole Christmas. We have hearts that grow ten times when that siren begins to wail. A true Fire Fighter is created over time. During that time you learn not to think that today might be the end of your line. You have this inner voice and deep desire to help someone else in what may be their greatest hour of need. All you want to do is help in some way. Failure to show up and do your job is not within a true Fire Fighter, EMT or Police Officer. We must succeed at any cost. Some person's life usually depends upon you being there. It is not to say that there are not other Fire Fighters, EMTs, and other Emergency Services personnel that would be there but if that whistle blows right now; this might be the one incident that someone may be relying on that one special skill or way of looking at things that you alone may posses to save their life, home, children or pet. What breaks your heart is when you have to look at a young child and explain that their mommy, their daddy, or even their beloved puppy did not make it. You know how much it will hurt to say because of how much it will hurt to hear. You see, we as Fire Fighters try not to think as the author(s) have written to often because it reminds us that we are human. We cannot be entirely human to effectively do our jobs. It would hurt to much. So my thank you the author(s) for putting into words that which we are even to afraid to admit to ourselves or to the face of a single mother of six who's very livelihood was just destroyed by fire a week before her oldest son's wedding. You want to convince her that it will be all right and things are not as bad as they might seem But, know better in your heart. It is nice to be thought of as super human but we are just doing our job (paid or volunteer). I just wish people could understand that we only want to help them when we ask them for some time to talk, listen, share a laugh, or even a few dimes to maintain our equipment. I hope this explains how honored I feel that someone understands us well enough to express in words that which we could often not articulate ourselves. For to do so would destroy the very core of who we have become. Fire Fighters, EMTs, Police Men and Women. Your emergency services providers.

I am indeed humbled and very grateful to the fine folks responsible for this site and for you bringing it to me. I speak for fire fighters the world over when I say that all we ask is a pat on the back every now and then. This site is very fitting and complimentary and I thank you again. Please stay in touch.
